Artworks Scotland

ArtWorks Scotland is delighted to announce five significant new pilot projects with a range of further and higher education partners across Scotland.

As a result of our research, we asked institutions to tell us how they would approach answering the following questions:

  • how would you raise the profile of artists work in participatory settings within your college or university?
  • what does a good good student placement looks like?

Our aim is to create a stronger understanding of arts in participatory settings in Scotland, the range of practices and the value of the work. We also aim to develop good practice guidance for placements.

We are delighted to be working for the next year with Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen, The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, Edinburgh College, Shetland College and with a partnership between two schools in Edinburgh University – Edinburgh College of Art and Moray House School of Education – to take this forward.

Each institution has proposed a different approach to tackle our questions and will be adopting a wide range of strategies, from working with alumni, developing partnerships with local agencies and setting up distance learning opportunities, to new lecture series and practical workshops. The projects will be featured in more detail as they progress.
